This Health and Safety Policy is designed to ensure the safety, well-being, and enjoyment of all clients, staff, and the general public during walking tours conducted by
Friendly Amsterdam Tours.

All tour guides must undergo comprehensive safety training, including:

First aid and CPR certification.

Familiarity with emergency procedures and local emergency contacts.Knowledge of the city’s safety regulations and pedestrian zones.

1.2 Client Safety Briefing

Before each tour, tour guides will:

Provide a safety briefing covering walking routes, potential hazards (such as traffic or uneven surfaces), and personal safety tips.

Ensure all participants understand the importance of staying with the group and following guide instructions.

1.3 Footwear and Clothing

Participants will be advised during booking and before the tour to wear appropriate footwear and weather-appropriate clothing. Tours will take place rain or shine unless weather conditions present significant hazards.

2. Risk Assessments and Route Management

2.1 Pre-tour Risk Assessment

Each route will be pre-assessed for:

Trip hazards (such as cobblestones, uneven pavements).High-traffic areas or busy intersections.

Clients will be informed about the physical demands of the tour. People with mobility issues or health conditions will be advised to consult with their healthcare provider before booking.

3.2 Water and Breaks

Guides will encourage clients to stay hydrated, especially during warm weather. Regular breaks will be scheduled for longer tours.

3.3 Medical Emergencies

In case of an emergency, the guide will:Administer first aid if necessary and contact local emergency services.Ensure the safety and comfort of the affected individual and the rest of the group.

4. Weather Conditions

4.1 Weather Monitoring

Tour guides will monitor weather forecasts and evaluate potential hazards from rain, wind, or extreme temperatures.

4.2 Tour Cancellation or Delay

If weather conditions pose a significant risk (e.g., thunderstorms, icy conditions, extreme heat), tours will be delayed or canceled. Clients will be informed promptly, and alternative dates or refunds will be offered.

5. Crowd and Public Safety

5.1 Avoiding Congestion

Guides will ensure the group size is manageable for busy public spaces. In peak tourist areas, they will use quieter routes where possible and avoid bottlenecks.

5.2 Client Identification

Clients will be provided with a company-branded lanyard or wristband for easy identification and communication in case anyone gets separated from the group.

6. Communication and Emergency Contacts

6.1 Tour Guide Communication

Tour guides will carry a mobile phone and have the contact details for local emergency services and the company’s management.

6.2 Client Communication

Before the tour, clients will be provided with emergency contact numbers, including those of the guide and the company.

7. Accident and Incident Reporting

7.1 Reporting Procedures

Any accidents or near misses must be reported by the guide to the company management within 24 hours. The company will keep records of all incidents and review them regularly to improve safety procedures.

7.2 Post-Incident Review

After an incident, the company will conduct a review to determine if additional safety measures are needed to prevent future occurrences.

8. COVID-19 and Public Health Measures

8.1 Compliance with Health Guidelines

9.2 Participant Responsibility

Clients will be reminded that they are responsible for their personal belongings, health, and safety during the tour. However, guides will take all reasonable steps to ensure their well-being.
